Tickets and Information

Map and Calendar of Events (apologies for poor quality! Click on image for much larger view!)

Moat Festival runs from the 6th to the 22nd of March 2009

TICKETS AND INFORMATION

General Public: $15
Students: $5 Guild Member/ $10 Non-Guild Member

or you can buy a Moat Pass for $20 Non-Guild Member and $10 Guild Member. A Moat Pass will give you entry into every show of the festival- so it saves you money!

HOW TO GET THERE:
La Trobe University is located in Bundoora, a suburb in the north of Melbourne.
The Campus is very large and can be confusing to navigate if you haven't travelled here before- so we suggest researching your journey before you come. Melways has a map specifically of the University towards the back, which is the clearest way to see.

You can come along Plenty Road, Kingsbury Drive or Waterdale Road. Entry to the carparks is easiest from Waterdale Road (we recommend carpark 3 for shows in the Moat Theatre, Hall Storage and The Playroom and carpark 6 for shows in Menzies Theatre).

Public Transport: Buses run from the City to La Trobe- see www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au
The bus will stop at the David Meyers Building, which is central to all venues. Make sure you are able to catch a returning bus home, as some nights (such as Sunday) the buses stop earlier.
Tram 86 runs along Plenty Road and stops at La Trobe. The walk from the tram is quite long, please make sure you leave enough time for the walk through the campus.

If you are coming to see a friend or relative in the show and aren't sure where to go, it might be worth talking to them and getting express directions, otherwise please feel free toask at the Student Theatre office when you are booking your tickets.

BOOKING TICKETS
Student Theatre takes phone bookings up until about 4pm of the day of the show. Unless specified, you are able to buy tickets at the door. Please note that we only take CASH and don't have the facilities for Credit Card transactions. If you are a school group, please enquire directly at the office.
When you book your ticket, you need to leave your Name, a contact number and the number of people you are booking for, and whether you are General Public or Student. You will pay at the door. Please note that latecomers will not be admitted, so make sure you are there 5 minutes early. TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE CLOSER TO THE OPENING DATE.

BUYING MOAT PASSES
The easiest way to buy a Moat Pass is at the first show you go and see. If you are a student at La Trobe, you can also buy a Moat Pass from the Student Theatre and Film Office (maybe taking the time to join up while you are there!)

FRONT OF HOUSE VOLUNTEERS
If you are a student at La Trobe and like theatre, a great way to get to know people and also see as many shows as you can is to sign up to be a Front Of House person. We will be looking for students in O-Week to sign up to help out.

Stockjobbing With Crotty Mallards

Stockjobbing with Crotty Mallards
written by Josh Humphreys

Sketch comedy used to be good. Then it was crap for ages. Now it’s good again.

Covinous Grim Reaper interviewees, nugatory incident reporting, monomaniacal zookeepers, wassailers barging in on the penhntalogue, a thwarted maniple, Robin Hood’s accountant’s eulogy, a concise history of concrete and many more sketches involving words we had to look up in the thesaurus and then the dictionary to make sure they meant what we wanted them to. There are also three supplicatory figs. Sometimes four.

Showing in Menzies Theatre
6, 7, 9, 11 March at 8pm
8 March at 6pm
10 March at 9pm

Year Nine Are Animals

Year Nine Are Animals
written by Richard Tulloch
directed by Jaclyn Sullivan

It’s Alan Bowman’s first year as
a high school teacher. Bright eyed and excited about the year
to come, his enthusiasm is soon quashed by the most reviled class in the school, year 9F. In an attempt to interest the students he designs less than conventional lessons which inevitably turn his already unruly classroom into a circus. It seems that Alan’s students aren’t the only ones who will be getting an education this year.

Showing in Menzies Theatre
9, 11, 13 March at 1pm
10, 13 March at 6pm
12 March at 8pm

Love

Love
written by Patricia Cornelius
directed by Davina Wright

Addictive, passionate and terrible love is what keeps Annie, Tanya and Lorenzo together.

They are the most unloved and unlovable of people. Born at the bottom of the heap, they will never shift from under the weight of poverty and ignorance.

Yet they talk of love, love, love. Love shifts curiously between these three who use each other, who abuse each other, who suffocate each other, who weigh each other down.

Showing in the Playroom
16, 18, 20, 21, 22 March at 8pm
17 March at 6pm

The Return

The Return
written by Reg Cribb
directed by Renee Palmer

On a stifling hot night in Perth, two young men recently out of prison take a ride on the last train for the evening.

Inside the claustrophobic confines of the carriage the two young thugs rule their space.

Or do they?

Showing in the Playroom
6, 8, 10 March at 8pm
7, 9, 11 March at 6pm

4:48 Psychosis

“Sleep with a dog and rise full of fleas." Severe stomach

pain. No other reaction.

As You Like It

William Shakespeare's
AS YOU LIKE IT
Directed by Bob Pavlich

Our two heroines, Rosalind and Celia, escape a bitter and angry parent and race to the Forest of Arden.

Here they find that nature reveals the true possibility of loving and being loved.

This riotous and slightly wacky version is set in no particular place or time but as the play itself says…all the world’s a stage.

Showing in the Moat Theatre
6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15 March at 8.30

Please note that as this is an outdoor event, it may be MOVED to UNION HALL in the event of heavy rain. You are welcome to bring blankets, cushions, food and drink to heighten your enjoyment of this show.
